DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING,
LOST IN THE VALLEY OF THE NIGHT?

can we discuss for 9 seconds the chills I just got while watching this trailer?? when Debbie Gibson made her Broadway debut in this show in 1992 as Eponine, I was immediately drawn to a musical I had previously heard nothing about… (it’s true, I was a sheltered, closeted Kansas boy who owes his Broadway awakening to the one and only Debbie Gibson.)

anycrap… the musical I have loved (seeing it in Wichita, Kansas City… and even on Broadway) is getting the silver screen treatment.  and I have chills.

2012 is almost upon me, and I am not one to make and break resolutions. (it’s easy, because I never make them, making it impossible to break them.) I feel like the winds of change are in the air and it’s time for me to set some goals for myself and see them through. 2012 seems like the perfect year, as I am a slave to the numbers. (that sounds better than admitting I have a weird OCD, right? ‘12 = 3 when added together, and 3 is my native tongue, whatever that means.) My first goal is to document my words more, whether it be here, over at my other little place on the web or in my new journal. (I LOVE JOURNALS WITH BLANK PAGES!!) that wasn’t a caps lock accident by the way, I really do get excited at new journals with many blank pages to fill.) Is there a point to this entry? Not really… but with me, there never really is. In case you’ve failed to figure me out by now, I am totally random.

                              MORE THAN A ZIP CODE!

It’s no secret to anyone who has spent more than 54 seconds with me, whether it be in real life, or in the world of the wide web, how much my heart beats for Beverly Hills, 90210.  As an avid lover of television and of all things pop culture, when I am asked what my favorite tv show of all-time is, I always have to give that a thought.  I have a few that are tied for the #1 slot, and Beverly Hills, 90210 is not one of them.  Before you have a chance to choke on your Peach Pit, let me explain further: BH, 90210 is more than a favorite show, it’s a way of life for me.  That is the response I always give.   I was 15 when the show debuted and for 10 years, it was my parallel universe.  Nearly 12 years after the series finale aired, I still feel that way.  In 2003 I chased Ian Ziering across a Planet Hollywood in LA, the entire time yelling “STEVE! STEVE SANDERS!!”  I know the actor’s name is Ian, but in that moment I felt as if I were chasing a best friend from high school.  (After following him into the elevator, I shook his hand and thanked him “for the best 10 years of my life”.)  Just about an hour ago, I was doing random things around my house while a season 10 DVD played in my living room… and I nearly flipped my Walsh when I heard this line from Steve Sanders himself:

“It’s not just a car; it’s a way of life for me, ok?”  ~Steve Sanders

The Zip Code is in my blood…  forever.

(and in case you failed to notice, I am a little dramatic…
& quite possibly the long lost son of Aaron Spelling.)
